Troop Committee

The troop committee is an integral part of the troop setup. The committee is responsible for setting troop policies and handling administrative functions, allowing the Scoutmaster and assistant Scoutmasters to focus on working directly with the Scouts. The committee for Troops 734 and 7734 are a joint committee, which means we make decisions that affect both troops.

The committee has many positions available. It is a great way for a scouting parent to get involved and gain understanding of how the troop is set up and how it works. Committee members can still work with the scouting youth as some positions require mentoring of scouts in their troop positions. Committee members are also encouraged, but not required, to attend troop campouts.

Committee Postions include, but are not limited to:

  • Committee Chair

  • Charter Org Representative

  • Financial Chair

  • Medical Officer

  • Outdoor Coordinator

  • Chaplain

  • Secretary

  • Advancement Chair

  • New Member Coordinator

  • Equipment Coordinator

Committee meetings are open to any parent or guardian of our registered youth. If you want to take a more active role with the committee, we ask that you complete an Adult Application and Youth Protection Training (YPT). Many hands make light work, and this planning and organizing is essential to helping the scouts plan and execute the best program they can have. The committee would love to have your assistance, even if you are able to help with a campout or event each year.

The committee typically meets at St. James Lutheran Church the 2nd Tuesday of each month from 7-8:30pm.
